5 lululemon Running Pieces I Keep Reaching For on Every Run

When it comes to running gear, I’ve tried a lot of different options over the years — especially while training for marathons, triathlons, and long endurance events. But there are a few items I keep coming back to again and again.

These are the lululemon running pieces I reach for most often. They’re comfortable, reliable, and have held up through everything from easy runs in the city to long training days on the trails.

1. Shake It Out High-Rise Running Short 2.5″

The Shake It Out High-Rise Running Short, which is one of the best lululemon running pieces.

These are my go-to shorts for warmer weather and easy runs.

They’re incredibly lightweight and comfortable — the kind of shorts you barely notice you’re wearing. The fit is also really flattering, with a high-rise waistband and a looser, flowy cut through the legs that helps keep you cool.

As someone with stronger thighs, I’ve always been a bit hesitant about shorter running shorts, but these work really well. They don’t cling, they don’t ride up, and they feel comfortable even on longer runs in the heat.

They do have a small hidden pocket, but for most runs I’ll pair them with the Fast and Free Running Belt to carry my phone and other essentials.

They also come in a range of colours — and I’ll admit I’ve ended up collecting a few pairs because I reach for them so often in the summer.

2. Swift Speed High-Rise Short 6″

These are my favourite shorts for long runs and race day. If I had to pick one pair of shorts I trust for marathon training, it would be these.

What I like most is how secure and supportive they feel without being restrictive. They have a compressive fit that helps everything stay in place, which makes a noticeable difference on longer efforts when fatigue starts to creep in. I also never have to deal with them riding up or needing mid-run adjustments, which is a big win when you’re out for a couple of hours.

They’re also incredibly practical. The deep side pockets easily fit gels or a phone, and there’s a zipped pocket at the back for keys or anything you want to keep secure. I’ve worn these on long training runs and races where I needed to carry everything with me, and they’ve always held up.

If you’re prone to chafing or just want a pair of shorts you don’t have to think about mid-run, these are hard to beat.

3. Swift Speed Cropped Tank Top

This top is one of the newer additions to my running wardrobe, and it’s quickly become a favourite — to the point where I’m planning to race my next marathon in it.

It’s one of those pieces that just ticks every box. The fit is flattering but still performance-focused, with enough compression to feel supported without feeling restrictive. One of the standout features is the built-in support, which means you don’t need a separate sports bra — something I really appreciate on longer runs.

It also has a surprisingly practical design, with a large zipped pocket that can hold your phone or other essentials — something that’s actually quite hard to find in running tops. I’ve already tested this on long runs and found it comfortable the entire time, with no chafing or irritation.

The only downside is that it tends to sell out quickly, but lululemon does restock it regularly. If you’ve got a race coming up, this is definitely one worth keeping an eye on.

4. Swiftly Tech Long-Sleeve Shirt 2.0 (Waist Length)

This is one of my most-worn pieces during the cooler months and in-between seasons.

I personally prefer the waist-length version, as I find it strikes the best balance — not too long, not too cropped. It sits well, doesn’t bunch up, and still gives you the option to tuck it in on colder runs.

The fit is close to the body, which makes it great for layering, but it’s also breathable enough to wear on its own when the temperature is a bit unpredictable. This is usually what I reach for when it’s too cold for a t-shirt but too warm for heavier layers.

It’s also incredibly comfortable to run in. The fabric is lightweight, sweat-wicking, and breathable, so I don’t tend to overheat even as I warm up. And the thumbholes are a small but really useful feature — perfect for those days when it’s not quite cold enough for gloves.

5. Fast and Free Running Belt

The lululemon Fast and Free running belt.

The Fast and Free running belt is one of those simple pieces of gear that I end up using all the time.

Anytime I don’t have enough pockets — or don’t want to wear a vest — this is what I reach for. It sits snug against your body, doesn’t bounce, and can comfortably hold your phone, keys, and several gels without feeling bulky.

Even when I do have pockets, I’ll often still use this on longer runs so I can spread everything out and avoid overloading one area. It’s especially useful for long runs and races like half-marathons or marathons where you want easy access to fuel.

It’s lightweight, low-profile, and just does exactly what you need it to do. There’s a reason it’s such a popular running belt — it’s reliable and works.
